ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Laura Campbell, President & CEO
Laura Campbell has more than two decades experience in launching and growing businesses ventures--as an entrepreneur, a venture capitalist, a strategist and a corporate communicator for both public and private companies. During her career, she has assisted more than 250 new ventures and existing businesses in their growth and development.
Ms. Campbell is a nationally recognized expert in launching and growing businesses and in private equity investments. She is a speaker and writer whose articles have appeared in numerous publications.
Ms. Campbell’s strengths lie in her ability to help businesses identify, articulate and implement their often cutting-edge visions. She is known for her organizational abilities with an eye on the big picture, as well as her solid grounding in the financial realities and details of new business development and existing business management.
Ms. Campbell has served as President & Chief Executive Officer of Laura Campbell & Associates since the firm’s inception in 1997. The business growth advisory firm serves new and existing businesses as well as private equity investors. Over the last 11 years, Laura Campbell & Associates has supported more than 100 businesses in areas including strategic and organizational planning; sales and business development; fundraising strategy and investor relations; due diligence; VIP events; and marketing and communications.
Previously, Ms. Campbell founded the Nashville Health Care Council, a highly successful economic development organization created to support the growth and increase the awareness of Nashville as the nation's leading health care business community. Under Ms. Campbell's leadership, the Council developed a business plan, raised more than $1.5 million in funding from 50 businesses to support its initiatives, assembled a prestigious Board of Directors representing diverse areas of the health care industry, launched a variety of events and informational resources, and significantly increased awareness of the industry's presence.
Before spearheading the formation of the Council, she was a Partner at Massey Burch Capital Corp.,
a venture capital firm investing in early-stage health care, communications, information and other service companies. As a member of the investment committee, she evaluated new ventures, advised businesses in the development of their business plans and identities, and assisted in managing investments in promising start-ups. During her eight years with Massey Burch, Ms. Campbell helped lead the formation and marketing of a $30 million fund and established a nationally recognized annual venture capital conference.
Prior to joining Massey Burch, Ms. Campbell directed investor relations, marketing and public relations for Wessex Corp., a publicly traded health care company. Other early experience includes several years as an intern with the investor relations and corporate communications departments of Hospital Corporation of America, where she assisted in the development and research of financial and marketing materials.
Ms. Campbell is on the Board of Advisors of nTelagent, whose self-pay management system enables health care providers to revolutionize the way they interact with patients at the point of service. She was appointed to and serves on the Partnership 2010 Entrepreneurism Task Force. She has served on the Advisory Boards of several organizations, including the Nashville Capital Network; Center for Entrepreneurship’s Women's Programs at Belmont University; Nashville Health Care Council Membership and Organizational Structure Committee; Nashville Society of Financial Analysts; Tennessee Venture Group; and Vanderbilt University's Health Care Management Program. She was Co-Chair of the Healthcare Delivery Solutions Congress, a national conference. She has been recognized as a top"40 under 40" in both The Tennessean and Business Nashville. She was also honored several times in the Nashville Business Journal’s Health Care 100. Ms. Campbell is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Rice University, where she was a Board of Governors Scholar. |
